My pet behaved badly

Fully 50% of the jobs we book include some degree of pet damage to the carpet.  peturinestainspic11Urine, whether human or animal, has three main components: 1) Urea, a slightly sticky substance; 2) Urochrome which gives urine its yellow color; and 3) Uric Acid – a mild acid, rich in nitrogen.

Uric acid contains non-soluble salt crystals, which present the biggest challenge to removing urine from surfaces, fabrics and fibers.

The first two components of urine can be washed away with ordinary cleaning and commercially-available urine odor products. But the uric acid crystals are extremely insoluble and remain tightly bonded to surfaces. After initial cleaningand drying with ordinary products, it may appear that the problem is solved. However, any type of moisture will reactivate those remaining crystals and the smell returns, as strong as ever.

Our unique cleaning process includes the use of protein-digesting enzymes that will literally “eat away” uric acid crystals. Once the crystals are broken down by the enzymes, they are easily extracted from your carpet by our steam cleaning process. In more severe cases, pet urine can penetrate into the carpet padding and sub-floor. We offer several levels of treatment from applications of specialized deodorizers, up to removal and replacement of contaminated carpet, padding, and sealing of sub-floor. We can provide a treatment that fits both your needs and budget.

When I called another carpet cleaning company, they didn’t go into this at all and I told them at the start that the cat had made a terrible mess of the carpet. Don’t they know, or are they just trying to take advantage of me???? They said steam cleaning would take care of the urine problem.

Hi, Sheree ~ thanks for popping on to our little blog. I remember sending Justin out to clean your carpet. When he came back to the office that day, he said, “That lady didn’t seem to believe me about the pet urine treatment. I saw her Googling to research it.” I’m not sure why other companies don’t really work to readicate pet urine problems. There’s really only one way to go after it. And customers, like you, don’t even have to accept OUR word for it. It’s just science. You can easily find out about it and you’ll know we’re telling you the truth. The other companies put hot water down on your carpet and reconstitute the uric acid crystals, leaving you with refreshened urine. Go figure!

OK, I’m not a big blog guy, but I like that you started one for the company. When I worked for the big national chain carpet cleaning company, we didn’t even carry the right products on our trucks. They simply don’t buy it or provide it. We had no opportunityt to do the job properly. They told us to just wet and jet. I always drove away fast, knowing I’d just put the customer in a world of hurt.

Dumb! Why would you purposely enter someone’s home and do a job poorly. How likely will they be to call you back? Glad you’re on our team now, Mark.

I’m laughing out loud to be blogging with the carpet cleaning company. I hope you didn’t e-mail me because mine was the worst pet damage job you guys ever did. I’ll be honest. My husband said your Pet Urine 101 was the bunk and your carpet cleaners were just trying to get money from us. I’m glad I won that disagreement, because we got our full deposit back when we moved out. I’ll be honest again. Chester is doing it at our new place, too. I’ll be calling you soon.

How funny that you guys have a blog about carpet cleaning. And that’s the picture of my family room carpet after Matt got all the urine out! I’m really happy I chose your company.

Hi, Rachel! I use that photo from your family room on a couple of our websites, too. Don’t forget to have us come out often. Pet urine is not simply soiling, it’s carpet damage.
